There was huge apple tree around which a little boy always loved to play. The boy loved to climb the tree and ate the scrumptious apples which grew on it. The tree was so dear to him that he even took the nap under the shadow of the tree.
Time passed and the boy soon grew up. The boy no longer played around the tree and so the tree became all alone. One day the boy was trotting past the tree and the tree asked him, “Will you play with me?” The boy replied, “Come on … you are just a tedious tree. I am not a small kid and I don’t play around trees. I play with toys.” “Well I don’t have money but you can take my apples and sell them to get the money you need.” The boy gladly picked all the apples. The boy sold the apples and got the money with which he bought a lot of toys. But after that, he didn’t turn back to the tree. The tree was all alone and Sad again.
After few years the boy again was passing the tree, but this time he was a teenager. It was a very cold winter, and the boy was constantly shivering. The tree asked, “What happened?” The boy replied, “I am really cold and I have no place to take shelter or heat up myself. The tree Said, “I don’t have a heater, but you can take my branches and light a fire, I think that will help you to stay warm.” The boy readily broke a lot of branches from the tree and lit a fire. The boy was then cozy and later went away without thanking the tree. This augmented the loneliness and sadness of the tree.
Time passed on …
One day again the boy came. He had become a young man by then. He looked really sad and was staggering all the way, “Come and sit uner my shadow. I am feeling very lonely without you,” told the tree. “Why are you so sad? Tell me. Maybe I can help you.” “I don’t have time for all these. I work for my family now and I have to build a home for them but I don’t have enough money. The tree pondered for a while and replied, “I don’t have money to give you. But you can cut off my branches and my trunk and build a home with the woods.” The man became very pleased and cut off the whole tree and made a house for his family.
After a long time, the man came back. He was now really old and could barely walk steadily. He looked sad, tired and lonely. The tree asked him,”Why are you sad? I wish I could help you. But the problem is now I don’t have any apples or branches or shadow to give you.” “I am tired of my life and there are lots of problems going on in my life and family.” sighed the old man, “Can I sit down at your roots?” The old man sat down. Both the old man and the tree was weeping. This made the old man feel a lot better. When the problems in the old man’s family were over, he went back to his family, forgetting about the one who was there when no one else was beside him. The tree was again drowned by the waves of loneliness.
The tree waited and waited and one day died…
Does the tree remind you of someone very close and dear to you? It is mainfest to everyone that it is no one but our own mother. We love to play with her when we are kids, we leave her alone after we grow up and only come back when we are in trouble. And no matter what, our mother is always ready to give everything she has for our happiness and to solve our problems and in return what she wants is —— “JUST OUR COMPANY”
